I just finished up this album cover for Boston based musician Scorpia. I did a bunch of photography and other experiments for her, and had freedom to do whatever I wanted for the cover. That sort of freedom can be a blessing and a curse sometimes, but it was a fun project to work on as I’ve been spending so much time and energy on school work.

"Berserker" (April 2014)
8” x 10” penil, ink, gouache, acrylic, and photoshop

I tried something a little different with this piece. Usually I work up a very detailed sketch (like the one seen on the left), and then “ink” the final version on a new sheet of paper (ink is in quotes because sometimes there is paint, collage, and other media involved). This time, I scanned in the sketch to be used in the colorization process, and then I inked, painted, and sanded down parts of the original sketch to produce the final physical piece. Then I scanned this physical piece in, and used elements of the pencil version and the mixed media version to color the illustration.

Digital prints of this piece will be available soon in my etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/workweak)

A recent morning warm up drawing. Little exercises like this are vital to keeping the creative juices flowing and helping me think outside the box a little more. Experimenting on a 30 minute sketch is a little easier than taking a chance 30 hours into a fully realized illustration.

"Under Pressure" (February 2014)12” x 18” Graphite, Ink, and Photoshop
Sometimes being in art school feels like fighting a giant sea monster in a sinking submarine.  You are stressed out all the time, and even though the submarine looks cool it’s full of smelly weirdos.
